The Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt is part of the St. Paul Winter Carnival every year. While the prize can only go to one winner, The Allison Wonderland is dedicated to the community spirit of treasure hunting. Here, not only will you find out about the Pre-Dig Gig, the Rehash Bash, and various other social events, but we also discuss the clues here in a team effort to decipher them (albeit not always successfully). This is a place to discuss ideas respectfully, report on what's happening "on the ground", and provide each other with useful information. This is a public group so expect that anything posted will be seen by everyone.

A large portion of it is. I can't imagine hiding it in the dog portion, though.

Nevermind, just found it!!!

Maybe I missed something or another post, but what is significant about something starting with D and ending with O?

Isn't Arlington Arkwright a dog park? I wonder if "fresh treasure" = dog poo LOL

Eileen Weida Park is bordered on the west by Desoto St. Burr St borders on the north. Burr could reference "don't wait til temps hit the 30s." Desoto is a vintage car model - referenced by "driver" in Clue 2? Not sure if other clues fit here though.

Is this too simple an explination?:
"far from the path that leads to a bath" meaning it's not in muddy/swampy/wet areas
"the treasure waits so alone / step out of the dark and go to the park" it's in an open clearing away from trees
"but avaoid obstacles of cone" avoid areas under constructions or marked off limits (traffic cones)
In the past the first few clues are pretty basic "welcome to the treasure hunt" "follow the rules, win a prize" "it's in a park in ramsey county"

yes. it also goes by edgerton park.

I believe the park with Desoto is Arlington Arkwright.

Desoto is a St Paul street that begins with D and ends with O. I seem to recall it bordering or intersecting a park. Need to refer to a map.

I'm thinking there is in fact a place where pine trees are legitimate obstacles.
Tue, 01/25/2022 - 13:24
That makes sense. I'm reaching here. Obstacles of cone = burial mounds? Probably not...

Anagrams: LIFE OF EASE = AISLE OFF EE; AISLE OF FEE VIGOROUS STRIVER = GOVS RIVER SUITOR; GOT RISE SURVIVOR; GROVE RIOTS VIRUS; ITS OGRE SURVIVOR; ORG SITE SURVIVOR; ORG SURVIVES TRIO; ORG RIOTS SURVIVE
Help me! I've fallen down a rabbit hole...

It says obstacles of cone, so it is plural.

There’s an old bath house, still standing, at Highland. I think Phalen had/has one too?
Tue, 01/25/2022 - 10:25
“The” path to “A” bath is vexing.

cone - pine trees - very good! Singular only to rhyme with alone.
Construction nearby? Avoid the orange cone s?
Public bath house back in 30s maybe...beach or ? Someone said Harriet had one..., interesting, any others?
They ALWAYS put in history. Those parts I never figure out.

I was thinking “obstacles of cone” might mean pine trees

Clue 3 made me think harriet but could be red herring...public bathes were the river and the cone. As I find it interesting they say cone, singular

On a similar track - a park with swimming ( beach or pool) but far from that section of the park.
Eg at como but far from the pool, or at Phalen but far fromThe beach
Cone I’m going to have to sit with for a bit.

"waits so alone" makes me feel like its a quiet, unused park generally so no big pavilions, nor playgrounds or ball fields still with river ties -- Lilydale does make sense
