Twin Cities Metro Area Summer Hunts (MN)
Primary tabs
Over the course of any given summer, nearly 50 hunts take place in the Twin Cities Metro area. The overall purse is rather impressive, with some hunts boasting prizes of $1000 or $1500 to the finder. As I write this (13 June 2017), the known purse for the 2017 Summer season is nearly $11,000 in cash and prizes, just waiting to be found, and of those festivals that have traditionally held hunts, their prizes in 2016 have totalled $7,000 in cash and prizes). More importantly, though, you get the glory of beating out the clue writers, which is why this site exists in the first place.
The Cooler Crew summer hunt season officially starts with the Dan Patch Horseshoe hunt in Savage, and the Good Neighbor Days Golden Spike hunt in Hugo both of which release their first clues right around Memorial Day, and ends with the Burnsville Fire Muster and Inver Grove Days Medallion Hunts which take place right after Labor Day.
Of course, most if not all of these hunts wouldn't happen if there wasn't a municipal festival that went along with it. So make sure when you're out looking, that you patronize the local businesses that prop up the festivals, or dig into their own pockets to provide the clues and the prizes.
