Wow.  I just dropped some things off at the 625 District office this morning (Community ED), at Lex and W7th.  I live in Highland, and I always figured that street was just a dead end, and never knew its name.
Freaky, thanks.

While I dont believe pleasant Ave is indicative of highland. This simply isn’t true.   Due to 35E - Pleasant Ave may be the most disjointed road in St. Paul. It starts near the Lexington and Montreal intersection, goes east/west for a while by the global arts school, skirts the garbage site/figure skating arena/linwood, then finally terminates near the James j hill house where Irvine turns. Truly a crazy path.

Pleasant doesn't go near Highland, just Linwood.

Yes, seems to possibly reference the donut hunt where an animal had moved it. Also could be referring to last year where hunters didn't know bruce Vento was sacred to the Dakota people.

Re: 2025 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt Clue #5

The Allison Wonderland - Thu, 01/23/2025 - 06:53
There are various thoughts on this one. My first thought was that they were talking about last year and to begin anew was to go back to the beginning and thus it was a reference to Highland Park.   A lot of other people are thinking it refers to one of the years where they had two hunts. In 1953 it was found at Cherokee somewhat quickly so they did a second hunt that was at the Fairgrounds. It's obviously not at the Fairgrounds. Cherokee is looking not too likely at the moment.   The other year was 2007 when it was found early (by some guy, I forget who) in Hidden Falls and then there was another hunt in Central Park. Hidden Falls is also not fitting the other clues too well (I don't think). Central definitely does though.   It's possible this could refer to Tony Schmidt in 2012. That would make some sense with hunters being sent to the park by forces "beyond their ken" with the so-called hacking incident. That might work if you believe the military reference was just a city clue, referring to the armory in Arden Hills.

2025 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt Clue #5

Sorry, I fell asleep last night, but here is my official posting of the clue:   Clue #5
When hunters were bidden to where it was hidden
By forces beyond their ken
We got a clue to start things anew
And hope it won't happen again   And the previous clues:   Clue #4
Water and field a refuge did yield
A place to play when cold or hot.
But as changes came they did proclaim
A new use for this pleasant plot   Clue #3
To recognize this year’s prize
Seek not geometry of yore
Would it be found stop looking around
Only the edgy will score

Clue #2
Over hill over dale hit the dusty trail
Better keep rolling along
In and out hear them shout
If you want to belong

Clue #1
Santa Ana’s churning, things are burning
The city hills are glowin’
The beast returns as the hunter yearns
The answer my friend is blowin’

2025 Golden Beer Can Hunt Getting Towards the End

The Allison Wonderland - Thu, 01/23/2025 - 06:25
Here are clues 1 through 7. Clue 8 will come out at 6:30 tonight at St. Paul Brewing. It will probably be found soon!   Clue #1
If you should want a beer that’s cold, then seek out ours, it’s good as gold.
The true standard in days of old, alcohol was just down the street.
In St. Paul we will play our game, where a park and street share a name.
A split tree will direct your aim, somewhere away from the concrete.   Clue #2
In this park some grass goes unshaved, nor are each of the trees behaved,
And not all the edges are paved. Still, you’ll find a fine place to sit.
The direction it’s best begun? In the shade of the morning sun.
For that is where this hunt is won, once you get it into your mitt.   Clue #3
Look up for a chance at success. Step down and you might find distress.
To go high or low? It’s your guess. Perhaps either way you’ll be okay.
But as you wander to and fro, going maybe high, maybe low,
You might just think to yourself, “Oh! I have already been this way!”   Clue #4
This year’s park indeed has a name, though it was not always the same.
It’s not clear who did first proclaim, but it is a park we all know.
If your car needs a parking spot you will find that there is a lot
Six they used to say for this plot that was partly barns long ago.   Clue #5
It’s one hundred eighty degrees on the inside among some trees.
Outside our treasure is sure to freeze because it is close to zero.
Nix the unfriendly attitude, and soon you will feel gratitude
Giving you some good latitude to become a hunting hero.   Clue #6
Old McDonald, he had no farm, but a fool thinks he had no charm.
It’s alright, this is it, no harm if you were to keep forgetting.
It was the best that you can do, playing together with your crew,
It even keeps you running too, towards the treasure we’re betting.   Clue #7
Though he had wanted to help all, it really took a lot of gall.
Later on, no one would play ball. He was disappointed for sure.
Between just you and me a stroll proves helpful to body and soul.
For if you’re not feeling quite whole, it might help to seek out the cure.

Ken has been used 3 times all in fairly recent hunts    2006 - Battle Creek 2012 - Tony Schmidt 2021 - West Park - White Bear Lake   With “Beyond our Ken” being used in 2021.   it seems to allude to the boundaries of the hunt nearly ever time it is used.   i think with the allusion to the donut hunt - they are simultaneously saying it’s out in the open (no snow may be moved) and it’s not in St. Paul.

IS this why everyone is jumping on highland park? Pleasant Plot = Pleasant Ave reconstruction in 2025?The City of Saint Paul plans to reconstruct Pleasant Avenue from St Clair Avenue to Victoria Street and Victoria Street from Pleasant Avenue/Benhill Road to Jefferson Avenue in 2025.
Plus the Fort Snelling Plot connection with the Army Song.... I guess. But Im way too late to guess that now. LOL

10 for Frogtown Park and Farm. Many clues fit there; you have to cross over Dale when you drive from downtown, there used to be an old dirt trail, Calvary cemetery is right next to it, there is a hill - if you climb it you have a good view of the city. It also has a sliding hill,  “yield” would be the farm produce. Water and field - you need water for the farm and on and on.  It is a cool place - I took students there to work the farm last year. It is a very diverse population of people and all different kinds of food, which would be something important to MN.
Anyways, just noodling but I am going out of town til Monday so wanted to share my noodles.  Thanks. Jone
