On Thursday night, Pete Koegel of Maplewood’s Hillcrest area was crowned King Winter the 54th and Ingeborg Ritt from the Hamline-Midway neighborhood of St. Paul was crowned Queen of the Northlands for the 2012 St. Paul Winter Carnival. The coronation took place at the Paul and Sheila Wellstone Center for Community Building on the city’s West Side.
Other new senior carnival royalty members are Prime Minister Frank Gurney of St. Paul’s Lake Como neighborhood; Lady-in-Waiting Bonnie Ripple of Anoka; Prince of the Four Winds Nick Charles of St. Paul’s Sunray/Battle Creek area; and Princess of the Four Winds Marce Mlynarczyk of Maplewood’s Battle Creek area.
The senior royal family reigns during the 126th Winter Carnival, which runs Jan. 26 to Feb. 5.
