There might not be much snow falling from the sky, but that doesn’t mean the Vulcans won’t put on a snow-sculpting competition.

The red-caped bad guys of the St. Paul Winter Carnival have picked up some snow-making machines and will be producing snow from now until the competition starts Jan. 25. Sculptures will be on display through Feb. 3, weather willing, at the Minnesota State Fair Fairgrounds.

The event was cancelled in 2012 due to warm temps and a lack of white stuff.

There’s still time to sign up and compete if you have a great idea for turning 512 cubic feet of snow into something award-winning. The top prize is $1,000.
