So – who the heck was that putting the Pioneer Press Treasure Hunt clues to music each day of the foray?
Bob Dylan?
Prince?
A demented Johnny Cash?
How about St. Paul musician Terry Eason – a local recording artist, guitar instructor and composer who recently completed a yearlong song-a-day project.
“I loved it. I had fun. In a way, it was kind of easier to do that when someone gives me the words,” Eason said Wednesday, the day the medallion was found in Tony Schmidt Regional Park in Arden Hills. “I liked the conciseness of it. Each one was almost like a jingle or something.”
Though his main constraint was making the words audible, Eason said he had a lot of leeway trying out different musical styles.
“My favorite one was No. 5 – it was demented coutry, a demented Johnny Cash,” he said. “There was a jazzy thing in there, which is unusual for me.”
Here is the song version of Clue 12, which we never got to.
