Clue #1
At last it’s time for vexatious rhyme
To goad you to fortune and fun
Here’s a clue: Something old, something new
Off you go! The race has begun
Clue #2
This is the year of the pioneer
An enterprise first of its kind
An event historic we feel euphoric
Like a park hunter grasping the find
It’s the 175th year since that newsman came here
With his press afloat he did embark
He’s got his own county, a majestic bounty
That he’s got in common with the park

Vexillum is used to refer to the standard, large posterior petals of papilionaceous flowers (corolla).
If they reverence down where they parked the Toyota, we follow the flora.
Park Pick #2
Thanks,

Old and New - An older park, but new part of it, a new addition to an old park? An old way of hiding it, but in a new area? Not in a park, a city street perhaps? Old Mailbox shenanigans comes to mind...1st clue noodles, are so...thought provoking.
What Does Jesus Mean by “Kick Against the Goads”?
“Apparently, ‘to kick against the goads’ was a common expression found in both Greek and Latin literature—a rural image, which rose from the practice of farmers goading their oxen in the fields. Though unfamiliar to us, everyone in that day understood its meaning.
“Goads were typically made from slender pieces of timber, blunt on one end and pointed on the other. Farmers used the pointed end to urge a stubborn ox into motion. Occasionally, the beast would kick at the goad. The more the ox kicked, the more likely the goad would stab into the flesh of its leg, causing greater pain.”
And so it begins...

Re: 2024 Pioneer Press Medallion Hunt Clue #1
Something old- something new in that light could be a “what’s it in” clue - which aren’t that helpful that early on. Could be wrapped in two flags, an old one and a new one.
Alternatively- vexing rhymes and something old/ something new could mean we are getting new spins on old clues. This could be troublesome in the Google-age of the hunt- folks would find the old clues and be brought to the wrong place.
Here’s hoping it’s not that lol
