As an avid hunter of the Treasure Hunt medallion for years, I have always noticed fellow hunters who pick up and examine a lot of garbage, hoping for the treasure to be hidden inside. When the medallion isn't procured, the piece of garbage is tossed back on the ground. I think it would be a wonderful idea for the Pioneer Press to contribute to the cleaning up of our lovely city by offering another contest within the medallion hunt. Perhaps whoever brings in a bag of trash from their hunting could be entered into a separate drawing for round-trip airfare. Maybe special bags can be included in the paper on the first day of the clues? I just see a huge missed opportunity for our citizens and your intelligent paper to contribute to a cleaner, more beautiful city.
