In town for the Winter Carnival festivities? Well, in between catching a glimpse of Klondike Kate or Boreas Rex, here are some other St. Paul mainstays to check out downtown:
Science Museum of Minnesota: Time your visit just right, and you can see the Science Museum of Minnesota’s popular “Titanic” exhibit before it closes Jan. 24. Or be one of the first to attend Omnifest 2010, the six-week, giant-screen film festival that begins Jan. 29. 120 W. Kellogg Blvd.; prices vary depending on event; 651-221-9444 or smm.org.
Minnesota History Center: While there is plenty to explore at the Minnesota History Center, you’ll want to check out “Benjamin Franklin: In Search of a Better World.” The exhibit explores the influential roles Franklin adopted, from inventor to founding father. 345 W. Kellogg Blvd.; $10-$5 (children younger than 5 free); 651-259-3000 or mnhs.org.
Children’s Museum of Minnesota: Take a trip back to the Cretaceous Period (145-65 million years ago) at “Dinosaurs: Land of Fire and Ice,” an exhibit that explores the time when dinosaurs last roamed Earth. 10 W. Seventh St.; $8.95 (children younger than 1 free); 651-225-6000 or mcm.org.
Schubert Club Museum: The 127-year-old Schubert Club shows off its impressive collection of antique instruments along with handwritten letters and manuscripts from some of the world’s great composers in a newly renovated space on the second floor of Landmark Center. 75 W. Fifth St.; free; 651-292-3267 or Schubert.org.
