The winners of the Minnesota State Snow Sculpting Competition and St. Paul Winter Carnival Ice Carving Competition were announced Sunday.

Dusty Thune, David Aichinger and Jessica Turtle, all of St. Paul, won the snow sculpting competition for their carving of Frozen by House of Thune.

During the three-day competition, teams of three sculpted 8 foot by 8 foot blocks of snow using only hand tools.

The winning team received $1,000, a trophy and the opportunity to represent Minnesota at the U.S. National Snow Sculpting Competition held in Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

The sculptures can be seen the remainder of the Winter Carnival at the Vulcan Snow Park at the Fair.

Chad Peterson of Monticello, Jeff Sarff of St. Michael, Eric Rotter of Detroit Lakes and Liam Flahive of Burnsville won the multi-block ice carving competition for their Snow Steam sculpture.

Chad Peterson of Monticello won the individual ice carving competition with his Sunflower carving.

The finished ice carvings can be seen in Rice Park until the Winter Carnival ends on Feb. 1.
