Sure, it’s just the start of June, but if you’re an artist, you may want to be thinking of winter. The St. Paul Winter Carnival, in fact.

Artists are invited to create designs for the 2017 Winter Carnival buttons. The St. Paul Festival and Heritage Foundation is looking for button designs that showcase the Carnival legend and activities — King Boreas, Vulcans, ice palaces, all that stuff.

The artwork must fit within a 3-inch diameter. Original submissions must be in a jpeg format. More than four button designs may be submitted. The button artwork needs to include: “2017,” “Saint Paul Winter Carnival,” “wintercarnival.com” and the Winter Carnival logo, which can be requested.

There’s a cash prize, and the winner gets collectible status, recognition at button unveiling, a free parade entry in the Grande Day Parade and the first right of refusal to design the 2018 Winter Carnival buttons.

Email submissions by 5 p.m. July 1 with your name, address, phone number and email address to rbump@spfhf.org.
