Applications are due this week for candidates for the 2020 St. Paul Winter Carnival Queen of Snows program as well as for the junior and senior royalty programs.

Throughout their yearlong reign, the members of the St. Paul Winter Carnival royal family will serve as goodwill ambassadors for their sponsors; for the Winter Carnival and its host, the St. Paul Festival & Heritage Foundation; and for the City of St. Paul.

If chosen, these volunteers can expect to participate in a variety of activities including parades and family events during the 134th St. Paul Winter Carnival to be held Jan. 23 through Feb. 3. In addition to the 11 days of Carnival, some ambassadors will travel extensively throughout Minnesota, the United States and Canada to share the St. Paul Winter Carnival’s legend, heritage and community pride at festivals and charitable appearances.

The Queen of Snows program dates back to 1886. Each January, women are chosen to serve as Aurora, Queen of Snows, as well as the North, East, West and South Wind Princesses.
