Northern Soda Company in Arden Hills has created a limited-edition beverage for the 135th St. Paul Winter Carnival.
St. Paul Winter Carnival Minnesota Birch Beer will be introduced with a curbside “Pop-Up Pick-Up” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the soda company headquarters, 3747 N. Dunlap St. Vulcans and Winter Carnival royalty will be on hand.
This is the second year Northern Soda has created a themed soda for Winter Carnival.
The new soda is made with “cane sugar, a hint of spice, and natural cherry to create a super smooth winter treat,” according to a news release. Northern Soda co-owner Davod Zarghami said: “We went with a pre-1900s recipe that mixes real birch bark oil and just the right amount of sugar. The flavor originated in the Northeastern region of the U.S. and Northern Soda perfected it here in Minnesota.”
A four-pack of the soda is $8. Orders have to be placed in advance for Saturday’s event. Go to northernsoda.com.
