The hunt is over.
Nine-year-old Lexi Franke dug up the St. Paul Park Heritage Days medallion early Thursday afternoon.
The medallion was hidden in the southeast corner of the sand volleyball court at Heritage Park.
“We’ve been here since this morning,” she said. "We dug all around the sand."
She received help from her parents, Kevin and Kris Franke. Kevin said his family spent time every day searching for the medallion.
Thursday afternoon, over a dozen people converged on Heritage Park. Medallion hunters weren’t afraid to get dirty in the volleyball court, while some were on their hands and knees searching grassy areas.
The prize for finding the medallion was $300. The family talked about using the money for a vacation to Duluth.
The first-ever St. Paul Park Heritage Days medallion hunt was sponsored by the Bulletin and Northern Tier Energy.
Here were the four clues that led her to the medallion and its bounty:
Clue No. 1:
Heritage Days has a medallion hunt? Why yes
It’s an activity well overdue, we must confess
So before your Broadway fun and play
Begin your search for cash today
Clue No. 2:
If you’re not looking yet, why the delay?
There’s money to net so get searching, we say
Gather your friends and family and head out of doors
Stick to city land, for elsewhere you ought not explore
Clue No. 3:
It's this hunt's first year, but don't assume ease
This is meant to be tough, early hints such a tease
You can jump into action, set your sights on a park
And if that’s not enough: the river’s off mark
Clue No. 4:
The party starts tomorrow, but the hunt is getting hot
Note the festival’s namesake if you want a good shot
There is lots to search here, the plan of attack is your call
Jump to the courts and you’re bound to have a ball
