The Golden Spud, a valuable potato family heirloom, was handed down from Spud McTater’s great-great-grandfather, I.McTater. Spud has lost his lucky charm, the Golden Spud, and needs help finding it. The spud is lost somewhere in Brooklyn Park, and seekers will get weekly clues to help them find the lost spud.
Clues will be posted at 4 p.m. every Monday and Thursday, beginning June 8, at Broadway Pizza, on the Channel 12 newscast, at the Brooklyn Park city website, Facebook and Twitter accounts and at the front desk at City Hall.
The prize for the person who finds the Golden Spud is $300, plus a $100 bonus if the finder has a 2015 Tater Daze button. The winner will be presented with their reward at a city council meeting.
There are rules to this contest, including no digging or climbing, that the spud will be on public property in the city, that there is no purchase necessary, that city and Broadway Pizza employees and family members are not eligible and that searchers assume all risk for personal injury.
