The medallion hunt has begun
Now’s the time for family fun
To purchase a button is the only cost
To look for a treasure that is lost.

This year there’s hope that all can enjoy
Whether an armchair detective or have shovels employed
So now that the intro all has been said
Get ready for clue one and to use your head.

This year think of present and past
Stop…because life goes by so fast
Which direction is the best?
Maybe north or south or east not west

Simple rules are in effect
To the property of others, show respect.
No dismantling or moving objects required
To find the disc you desire.
Third, it lies on public land
Maybe your lucky number will be a grand.

This year there were rumors of no Frolic at all
But thanks to some people who answered the call
There will be a Titan of Taconite and a queen and her court
Also hunting for treasure, a great winter sport.

Bert Parks was the Miss America host
Winter Frolic has Scott Hansen we can boast
The clues aren’t like the poetry by Dylan Thomas
But it will give you food for thought, I promise.

Look for a clear medallion not a piece of gold
Stay where the weather is snowy and cold
Don’t go where there’s warmth and sunshine
So stay on the north side of 169.

“Winter Wonderland” has been sung by a slew
Crosby, Sinatra, and Tony to name just a few
Like the song says, “we’ll frolic and play”
In the snow you’ll go digging away.

Hibbing has public schools, count them, there are four
And over 30 neighborhood parks as well to explore
For the treasure only one is all that you need
So pick out one and figure how to proceed.

As the days go by and the snow starts to melt
Spring games will come and warm hearts felt
With the cold winter have you read a book for fun
Ore have you kept in shape on a treadmill with a run.

With Spring close upon us new sports will start
Get on the ball and be a kid at heart
Maybe you’re on track as part of a relay team
Or maybe your path for life wants to be more extreme.

In the past a game played with a symbol for luck
Was on the south side but don’t get stuck
Moved to the opposite side, that’s clear
Across from some business persons of the year.

Our parks are used by people of all ages
With the hope that everyone engages
In the many kinds of games of play
To keep them healthy all their day

Have you tried a sport with an ethnic flare
Or maybe just getting out for fresh air
Do you remember a place from our past
Where there was a playset that was such a blast

There are picnics, reunions, and out for a walk
Not worrying about the time on the clock
To practice for Xgames or some sand and a net
Make all of life’s worries go and help you forget

America’s favorite pastime is one to check out
Which you will definitely enjoy, no doubt
The song says life is a beautiful rhyme
In the good old summertime

Today we celebrate the day of love
Where cherubs watch over from above
And if your gift is something sweet
You can get it down the street

There were flowers of every kind to smell
Roses, tulips, and orchids as well
There are diamonds for the one you adore
But you really don’t need all four

Time to stop stonewalling I think you agree
And get some more clues so the treasure you’ll see
Hibbing will soon have us out at the parks
With music playing a part without Dick Clark

Look back in time or ask a friend if you need
Where was this spot that good times were had indeed
Before we heard music here just for fun
We now play the game to hit the home run
