Hello from your old creaky friend!
I once again on trip will send,
All those out there who can but try,
To follow where my footsteps wend.

Herein are rules you well remember:
No lawns or fields may you dismember!
No river beds or ponds nearby.
Or you may need a great defender.

That great gold disc is set aside,
In one small place near where I bide.
You soon will ride or walk right nigh.
Know I, that spot you will deride.

Stay in town and out of trees.
No broken bones or bruises, please.
Neither it nor I can fly,
But into tiny spaces squeeze.

It’s not on rails or power poles.
It makes in city roads no holes.
Keep on city spires one eye,
Don’t worry you’ll wear out your soles.

So if or when our coin you spy,
Bring it in and don’t be shy.
Show it to our town officials,
And you’ll be shown in next JI.

Fairly soon now, you will go
Round our burg, headlights aglow.
Snooping here and peeking there,
Follow where the creek does flow.

If you step off path with care,
Tiptoe right up, if you dare.
Look for open line in clef.
Bass, not treble, please beware.

Lifting weight is work by heft.
Taking cooking hint by chef,
Gives the learner knowledge power,
Guiding seekers right or left.

Sugar sweet and apple sour.
Lurking in the hole a-glower,
Waits the great grand disc of gold,
Riches on you it will shower.

Often now the tale be told,
How for moments finders hold,
Products of our Heimatfest,
Just for hunter best: So bold!

Somewhere a person who’s cunning,
Thinks Cluemeister surely is funning,
And showing much fondness for punning,
Which is why clues are so mind-numbing!

Humph, is this cluester’s retort.
Among all the words you must sort.
And wall yourselves up in a fort.
But no, do not sell yourselves short.

I tell you out there gold is shining,
And for it you all must be pining.
Go out for nice rustic dining,
While low to the ground start your mining.

Once in a while there’s an answer,
Not far from where once was a dancer.
Shaken when Clydesdale’s a prancer.
Spot picked by time’s necromancer.

The day wanes fast beyond hill.
Supplement search with a will.
Put money back into your till.
Hunt’s cost to you: probably nil.

As long as rain comes from the west,
And is no more than drizzle,
The coin won’t need a wee life vest.
In fact, it may well sizzle.

It’s hidden in so small a space,
Your search for sure will fizzle.
Who will win this hunters’ race?
You’ll sure be in a mizzle.

Now east, now west, now south, now north.
You’ll end up in the middle.
Instead of saying, now, go forth.
I’m riddling you this riddle.

Slightly north of mostly east,
In sight of wood and water.
It sits knee-high in grey northwest,
Sans nail, sans paint, sans solder.

So did those builders passing by,
Know oak from ash from maple,
Each hausfrau made her dough for pie,
From stone-ground flour, a staple.
