2017 Jordan Heimatfest
Primary tabs

How don’t I hide thee? Let me count the ways:
I durst not hide thee in the length and breadth
Of property that’s private. Not these days!
I shall not hide thee where a one may climb
So high that the seeker sufferest a fall.
Therefore avoid those heights sublime.
I shan’t hide thee in the bowels of the Earth
Whereupon digging may reveal worms, not coin,
So ye searcher wouldst not find thy worth.
I’ve hidden thee where neither stream nor pond
Wouldst mar thy shining face
Nor dampen feet of those of whom we’re fond.
Oh, thou hidden, golden coin so fair
Sought by those who read these rhymes
And, pausing, sadly shake their hair.
Proclaim thy fate! ‘Tis to be lost at first
Then uncovered as these clues emerge
Leading on — both one and all — ‘til truths do burst.
Jordan resident and Cluemeister Marilyn Landela writes the clues for the annual medallion hunt, which will run in the Thursday print editions of the Jordan Independent until the medallion is reported found. The first clue will be issued next week.
The clues are also available:
- at midnight on Thursdays on your local newspaper’s website, jordannews.com;
- at the Jordan Area Chamber of Commerce office, 212 Second St. E., Suite 104;
- and on cable access channel 14.
Hunt with a team or by yourself, think through the clues and share ideas about their hidden meanings, and use the medallion hunt as a way to discover and enjoy your city’s parks.
If you find the medallion, please bring it to the Jordan city hall, 210 E. First St., to receive your $75 reward in Jordan dollars, and call the JI at 952-345-6571 so your local newspaper can let everyone know who found it.
Heimatfest festivities are scheduled for Sept. 8-9.
