The Treasure Hunt medallion was turned into the Kanabec County Times office on Wednesday, Aug. 3. Darci Wilelius and Lane Schafer, both of Mora, will receive a check for $1,000 after the medallion was discovered in Southfork Township.

Sponsored by local businesses, the Treasure Hunt begins with the hiding of a treasure hunt medallion somewhere in Kanabec County on public property.

The medallion is hidden where it can be found without hunters needing to dig or use any tools.

Then 12 clues where to find the treasure are released, once per day at local businesses until someone finds the medallion and brings it to Kanabec Publications to claim their prize.

The prize for finding the hidden medallion is $1,000 if the hunter purchased a 2016 treasure hunt medallion; the prize is only $500 if the hunter did not purchase a button.
