This is the story of our local hero…
As Heywood lies on the bank floor, his life flashed before him
As his body passed on, his faithful spirit was born
His remarkable valor would go down in history
as a true act of heroism that would be celebrated for years thereafter
Many would celebrate his courage with song, dance, game and festival
Many would hunt and battle for the horseshoe
What grew was a culture of helping and caring and brotherly love
His leadership would be forever remembered
By us townies and beyond

As this tragedy unfolded and the townies shot back
blocking Mill Square with rifles, the gang began their retreat
Meanwhile, Heywood’s body grew lifeless, laying half in the vault
his last thoughts of family and friends having fun
Dear Joseph had earned his angel wings while on earth
and was free to fly about like he did as a kid
The town was in shock as the news of this spread
all they could do was look down in sorrow while saying amens

Angel wings (Eagle Scout bench project reference and WINGS paying for the Oasis mist station. There is a rock/plaque with this information near the misting area)
Did as a kid (playground)
Look down (Direction to be looking down for the shoe, as opposed to up high or in a tree)

And tims story continues…
Joseph left behind a wife and young daughter
The widow became a first mom to the community
through her work making shelter accessible to all
Over the span of a decade, she made her mark
Her father asked if she wanted the farm
so they moved south to her childhood stomping ground

So in the spring she rode the Jefferson Line
Settling on the farm, she tended to the flock and fields
watering and grooming the land out back
But always thinking back to what happened that fateful day
in the bank tended by Wilcox, Bunker and her man
She scouted out old friends from her youth
Everybody came to welcome her back

One night Miss Heywood had a weird dream about her deceased husband
They were walking together in Northfield along a creek pond at the back of a park
They sat down together along a faded red bench and embraced
They heard something in the water behind them so Joseph got up to investigate
To get to the pond, he had to walk through an entry point in a thin fence
Once through the opening, he walked forward through the tall grass towards the water
and stopped before the growth became taller
Go look there!
