Summer means Summerfest,
And Summerfest means fun!
If you have not yet been to Summerfest,
Then this should be the one!

The medallion hunt is just one part,
There’s so much more to do!
What’s not to love about a celebration?
Would it help if we gave you a clue?

So there’s a parade, rides, and music,
Plus bingo, cars, dogs, and food.
And fireworks on Saturday night,
To brighten everyone’s mood!

Bearing in mind there’s money at stake,
Following the three rules is a must.
The hunt for the medallion is not all child’s play,
On your way, you might kick up some dust!
Explanation:
Hunt = archer
Park offers several amenities
Love = cupid = arrow = archery
Bearing = compass term, north, pointer / arrow
Hunt = archer; Not all child’s play = arrows
Dust = ballfields

Oakdale’s park system keeps on growing,
Adding acreage and amenities too.
The point of the annual medallion hunt,
Has been the discovery of parks - by you!

This clue does not mean to imply,
The Discovery Center is the place to be.
Sure there’s much to do there and at the nearby park,
But the medallion is elsewhere, you’ll see.

A round of applause for the OACC,
For sponsoring this event every year.
They also offer scholarships,
And give families in need holiday cheer.
Explanation:
Point = arrow; Hunt = archer

Our very newest park to note,
Is one pups say hits the mark!
A contest was held to give it a name,
And the winner was “Oakdale Bark Park”.

The dog park will open June 28,
If you’re in the area, join the fun!
Although the medallion is not hidden there,
The park is certain to be a home run!

A park has historically been the spot,
For the medallion to be tucked away.
Almost every street in Oakdale ends there,
Now and especially back in the day.
Explanation:
Hits the Mark = target
In the area = park located in northern part of city also
Home run = ballfield
Historically = former name of northern Oakdale was Northdale
Spot = former name of Target Corp mascot
Tucked away = park located off main road
Oakdale street names end with “North” = Northdale
Back in the Day = Northdale Township

It might not be fair where it’s hidden,
But it’s really not that strange.
Park in the lot, then walk and walk more,
So that you’ll be closer in range.

Try to ignore the piercing sounds,
And continue on your route.
The fire department is in the vicinity,
But not close enough to call you out.

Medallion hunters enjoy getting tips,
And we sure aim to please!
To get your mitt on the medallion,
You’ll want to search on your knees!

But very close by indeed.
It should draw you like a magnet,
And then down into the weeds.

If you did, the extra dough will be great.
If not, no sweat, the thousand bucks
Is still not a bad take!
Explanation:
Medallion was hidden at Northdale Park, in the weeds surrounding the base of a foul line pole. Northdale Park, off 50th Street, offers ballfields, playground equipment, ice rink, and is the only park in the city with an archery range. Thus, many of the clues referenced archery.
