Medallion Hunt Rules

1. Seekers are asked to be respectful of private property. The medallion will NOT be hidden on private property. Destruction of private OR public property is forbidden and will terminate the hunt. There will be no reason to dig. The medallion will be hidden within city limits.

2. Clues will be posted once daily at noon beginning Wednesday, June 10th. Clues will be posted in town at the bulletin board and on the Onamia Area Civic Association Facebook page.

3. The finder of the medallion must immediately notify the Onamia Area Civic Association.

4. The finder will receive $250 cash. The prize doubles to $500 cash if the finder has an Onamia Days Button!

5. The winner will be posted and announced online as soon as possible.

***Please make sure during this time you are continuing to follow Social Distancing guidelines. Do not gather in groups and maintain social distancing between yourself and others of at least 6 feet. Stay healthy, happy, and safe! Happy hunting!

It’s Year 2020 and this was quite unexpected, Social Distancing is in place and we feel disconnected. All the more reason to get out and take a walk, bike, or drive; it takes a community to make sure our town can still thrive. Public property will be the site of the item you seek, and within city limits is where you should peek. Keep your eyes peeled since the medallion’s not big, what you need to remember is there’s no reason to dig.

So many paths, roads, and sidewalks to choose, city limits are big so perhaps take a cruise? Cruisin the By-way!? Whoops, that’s the wrong year! Since I made a mistake I’ll help you get near. Be warned it’s not easy but here’s where it’s not; stay off the highways and take the byway in forethought. But which road or path does not follow the angle? Here’s a math hint, it’s the remaining side of the isosceles triangle.

So much mention of a path, road, or sidewalk to search; another place where it’s not is a route along birch. Another hint of the trail I could give you I reckon, a number that rings in my head: thirty-second. It’s not by the school although the knowledge is needed; math, history, and geography should also be heeded. This search is a bit longer and let me be Frank, be sure you have plenty of gas in your tank.

Another hint that’s a given I guess I’ll deliver, if you look up it’s the lake and down is the river. Another glance and you’re surrounded by Cedar and Pine, and to the east Oak and Elm make up the treeline. Remember how the rules of Social Distancing goes, 6 feet apart from each other even when you get close. Where to head next? West? North? South? East? I should find..that if I follow the latter I’ll hit Highway 169.

Roads, trees, and school subjects to learn? This prize is not one to easily earn. All these mixes of colors and I’m seeing green, what I’m trying to show you creates what’s between. Oh great, now it’s Art class? Am I being graded on this? The only score is 500 you’ll miss.

If you need some help you should seek out a teacher or two, all of the homework I’ve given has clues hidden in view. Remember the isosceles triangle made up of the highways? The remaining side is a road that went a bit sideways. The clue thirty-second was Commander in Chief, and the collection of trees lacks a single leaf. The two colors that make up green were the hint, if you still can’t find it Do Not Remain stuck on that tint.
