2017 Sheldon's Wrench Treasure Hunt
Primary tabs
Have you ever remarked that you “haven’t a clue”?
Well, throw that phrase out the window, because there’ll be clues for you the week of Feb. 5-11, when the Eden Prairie Community Foundation, Rustica Bakery and Café, and Kowalski’s Eden Prairie Market team to bring you the annual Sheldon’s Wrench treasure hunt.
With clues posted at the Eden Prairie Rustica shop in the historic Smith-Douglas-More House at 3 p.m. every day that week, residents young and old will be invited to hunt Eden Prairie parks for Sheldon Smith’s wrench that, according to legend, was lost 136 years ago.
All of the clues will reference Eden Prairie history, with previous days’ clues posted on the Rustica Eden Prairie Facebook page. Residents participating in the hunt are asked to follow all City of Eden Prairie geocaching guidelines so that the treasure hunt is safe, fun, and damage-free.
Whoever finds the hidden wrench will win $500 if they have purchased a $5 set of event buttons and filled out the registration. No button? Then the prize is $100. Colorful buttons are on sale at Rustica Bakery and Café at 8107 Eden Prairie Road and at Kowalski’s Eden Prairie Market at the Prairie Villager Mall, corner of Highway 5 and County Road 4.
The Foundation is proud to collaborate with Rustica and Kowalski’s to bring you one of Eden Prairie’s signature winter events. The hunt for Sheldon’s wrench has taken place the last eight years, and has brought lots of attention to the historic Smith-Douglas-More House where Sheldon, an early town officer, once lived.
If you appreciate Eden Prairie history, we think you’ll also appreciate the Eden Prairie Community Foundation. After all, more than a few of the Foundation’s 500-plus grants awarded over the last 36 years have helped preserve and call attention to Eden Prairie’s rich history.
Off to hide the wrench! Join us for the Sheldon's Wrench Treasure Hunt beginning February 5th. Buy a button pack and win $500! Sponsored by Rustica Eden Prairie, the Eden Prairie Community Foundation and Kowalski's Eden Prairie Market.
