15th Annual Winterfest Medallion Hunt Rules

Find the Medallion somewhere in St Peter, and you will win $1,000 in St. Peter Chamber Bucks!

There are a few simple rules to remember when searching for the St. Peter Winter Medallion:

     -  The Medallion is located within the St. Peter city limits and on public property.

     -   Do NOT dig in the soil.

     -   Please respect other people’s property and DO NOT search for the Medallion on
         private property.
 
     -   Please DO NOT climb over any fences when looking for the Medallion.  The Medallion is
          NOT located in a restricted area.

Explanation:
Same Clue #1 as last year; hint that medallion was hidden in the same park in back-to-back years.

Remember that searching on private land is strictly forbidden.
The medallion is out there somewhere to be found,
Just have fun with the search like kids on a playground.
Explanation:
Gorman Park and Jefferson Park both have playgrounds. There were several commonalities with the two parks.

Read everything over carefully like those who practice law,
Or you won't find the medallion until the spring thaw.
Explanation:
“Hidden” refers back to Clue #1, so it’s a repeated word to give the hint of repeated park.

Thomas Jefferson loved books; library near Gorman Park has books. Willis Gorman and Thomas Jefferson both practiced law.

Explanation:
The 1998 tornado damaged both Gorman Park and Jefferson Park

Grace Slick was lead singer of Jefferson Airplane – this hint was also given in a 2017 clue. Gorman Park is along Grace Street and in the area of two churches.

Refers to Thomas Jefferson’s love of books and to the library being adjacent to Gorman Park. Local history reminds us that the tornado hit both Jefferson Park and Gorman Park.

Ball diamonds exist in both Gorman Park and Jefferson Park.

Sweet Martha’s cookies are popular at the state fair,
But the fair is in August, so the disc can’t be there.
You might want to look near a place to play ball,
But reading a good book might be a better call.
Explanation:
Martha was the name of Thomas Jefferson’s wife and of Willis Gorman’s wife.
